Lacrosse Field Dimensions

Men’s Lacrosse is played on a field 110 yards long by 60 yards wide.

The midfield line, marked in red divides the length of the field in half. The marking  ” X” denotes the spot where  the faceoff  takes place at the beginning of each quarter and after each goal.

Wing Area

The “wing area” marked in blue is 10 yards from the sidelines and 20 yards from the “X”. At the start of each quarter and after each goal, 1 midfielder from both teams stand behind these lines until the referee blows the whistle.

Attack Area & Defensive Area

The areas marked with pink lines are known as the “box”, where defensive and offensive play take place.  Defensemen and Attackmen must stay within this area during a faceoff until a referee declares “possession.”  This area of play is 35 yards long and 40 yards wide.

Goal Area

The “crease” marked in orange has a 9 foot radius. Goalies and Defense are allowed to pass through the crease only if the player does not have possession of the ball before entering. If that happens, the play is blown dead and possession is given to the opponent.

The Goal

The Lacrosse goal marked in purple inside the goal area is the net that is shot on. It measures 6 feet high by 6 feet wide by 7 feet deep in size.
